Obiettivi
Our goal is to support mental health of young people in critical stages of lives, particularly transition periods. To achieve this,
we identified two specific goals:
1. Provide educators the capacity to support mental health of young people in transition periods;
2. Develop the capacity of young people to regulate their thoughts, emotions, and behaviour (Emotional Skills, OECD)
through art-based approaches.
Attività
A1: Project Management
The project management activity unfolds in three key phases:
- Preparation: Set groundwork, establish partnerships, and formulate plans for activities, dissemination, monitoring, and evaluation. Kick-off meeting in Italy to align objectives and roles.
- Implementation: Coordinate partners, report progress, execute dissemination and evaluation activities. Mid-term meeting in Dublin for consolidation and planning.
- Follow-up: Compile final evaluation, ensure sustainability, and share results on platforms.
A2: Art in Transition - Online Course for Youth Workers
This activity involves creating a mental health support course for youth workers using art activities. MAAP, mental health experts, will lead the course development.
- Preparation: Analyze youth workers' needs for aiding mental health during transitions. Identify psychology-based practices. Formulate rubric with learning objectives.
- Implementation: Use platforms like Canvas or Coursify.com for course creation. Partners create modules guided by MAAP. Modules include videos, resources, exercises. Pilot with 16 youth workers, gather feedback.
- Follow-up: Integrate course into partner websites, promote on SALTO/School Education Gateway. Disseminate to 30 European youth organizations. Organize online conference by TA and INM for wider educator engagement.
A3: Art in Transition - Art-based Approaches to Build Emotional Skills
This activity, led by Art Teka Ltd, involves creating art-based activities for mental health and emotional skill development, with the following stages:
- Preparation: Engage young people in selecting 8 priority skills from the OECD's Big Five Model. Youth workers gather in Ireland to plan art-based activities, sharing ideas and creating a template.
- Implementation: Each partner, guided by Art Teka, designs two art-based activities for 2 emotional and social skills. The art forms are flexible and inclusive. Partners prepare and pilot activities in different countries involving at least 5 young people each (total 20). Youth workers from A2 lead the piloting, ensuring skill continuity.
- Follow-up: Compile activities in the "Art in Transition" handbook, translated into Italian and Macedonian. The handbook is a PDF available on partner websites, promoted on SALTO's resource page.
Risultati
1.A Online Course "Art in Transition":
This course targets educators, equipping them with a psychological understanding of the support needed during transition periods. The course will be delivered to at least 12 youth workers, empowering them to better assist young people facing mental health challenges during transitions.
1.B Handbook "Art in Transition":
The handbook offers a practical toolkit of non-formal learning activities, both digital and non-digital, centered around art. These activities engage at least 20 young people, enabling them to develop emotional skills through creative expression. The aim is to help them navigate the emotional complexities of life transitions more effectively.
The project aligns with the "Increasing quality, innovation, and recognition of youth work" priority by building the capacities of youth workers through online and offline practices. Additionally, it addresses the "Inclusion and Diversity" horizontal priority by creating an inclusive environment that caters to the diverse needs identified earlier in the project.
